In The Kitchen

The pot boils over gradually

[It takes time to do these things]

The man in the apron cuts some leeks

As the pressure cooker sings

Perspiration gathers on his head

He grates the cheese so fine

He stirs up his creation

And adds a smidge of pine

He starts plating up his masterpiece

Bite by exquisite bite

He can’t stand sending out plates

Unless they’re just right

The head waiter bustles through the doors

And starts to take away

The oodles of food the chef has prepared

On a white, porcelain tray
